Princess Mia and The Lion — Part I
A fiction
Princess Mia was locked up in an underground dungeon with a little window along with a lion. The place was cold and dark except for some light from the little window. The lion, who had not eaten in a long time, was frail and skinny. A scared Mia froze when she saw the lion in the dungeon. However, the lion did not bother her.
Every day a guard would place some food and water through the door and walk away without checking on them. For several days Mia would not eat and only drink the water, just like the lion. The place was dirty. Mia just sat in a corner and fell asleep in the same place each day, only to be woken up by the guard's footsteps bringing in food and water.
Mia prayed every single moment and wanted to be free. She hoped that someone would rescue her or somehow would break free from the dungeon. Finally, one day the lion did not move and stayed lying on its side. Mia thought the lion had died.
She braved and went closer to the lion. The lion was still breathing, much to her surprise. When Mia poured some water into the lion's mouth, it opened his eyes and stared at her adoringly. She begged the lion to eat something. The lion did not seem to be interested in food.
She pets the lion and lets him lay in her lap. In her lap, the lion felt her warmth so comforting…
