the poet — a poem

“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” — Heraclitus

“The air moves like a river and carries the clouds with it; just as running water carries all the things that float upon it.” ― Leonardo da Vinci

“A woman in harmony with her spirit is like a river flowing. She goes where she will without pretense and arrives at her destination prepared to be herself and only herself.” — Maya Angelou

A poem

Here comes the poet again
He heard words
Tried to mince words
But could not swallow
He bit his tongue and lip
So he does not mince words
What else is a poet going to do
Unruly tricky tongue twister tamed
But still a poet in the stillness and
His still tongue does not seek
For what is still and fixed
For he meanders like a river
For what is still to come
Never crossing the same point again
Wishes to never turn into
A lake — a conceivable catastrophic cesspool
A rebellious being breaks barriers
Flows to the destination
Here goes the poet again
