All flowers are intriguing, beautiful, spread joy, and make us happy. Orchids are just another variety of flowers that are gorgeous and are known to be picky. I cannot thank my friend enough, who gave me a precious gift of an orchid plant five years ago. Every year for the past five years, it has provided me tremendous joy just looking at it. I feel there is a new addition to the family when a new leaf emerges.

All my orchid plant gets is filtered sunlight and water. That is all! I have not fertilized it, nor have I transplanted it. I only placed a large enough tray to hold the run-off water. I did not realize until recently, the roots have grown outside the pot and settled in the tray. I have never had an orchid plant for this long, and I am sure most people can relate to this experience. Each year it puts out beautiful flowers that last for four to six months. Simply amazing!

I am not a plant expert, but from what I have seen, this orchid plant has two leaves at a time. It has more roots by volume and weight compared to the total number of leaves. I wonder if the roots are providing more nourishment than the leaves. Certainly, the plant would not survive without the leaves, but the roots are playing a major role.

The roots must be suffocating to live in the tiny space, and they grow above the pot's…
