A Much Loved King
He reigned for a long time
“Kings are the slaves of history.”
― Leo Tolstoy, War and Peace
A King
Not donned in a new royal mantle
Of red velvet with gold embroidery
He forsakes the symbol of authority
Sans an imperial crown
That weighed him down
And sealed his thinking
The King ruled his kingdom
At night and during the day
He roamed the streets incognito
When the kingdom was well awake
Learning problems firsthand
Providing solutions as a commoner
His unrepressed people progressed
In fine arts, warfare, literature
Medicine and sound culture
Wellness is a panacea in
A healthy kingdom!
In the truthful kingdom
A King much loved by all
The queens — never commanded
Nor confined but free to learn
For the King had abundant love and
Respect for women of any type
He was unafraid of the
Warrior woman surpassing
Him on the battlefield or any arena
